Privacy Policy

This is a plain summary of what adamdbenson.com does and doesn’t collect. It’s my personal portfolio site, run by me, Adam Benson.

No cookies

This site doesn’t set cookies, and I don’t use advertising pixels, analytics or tracking scripts. That’s why you won’t see a cookie pop-up. (The one exception is the Contact page’s spam check; see below.)

What I do collect

  • Contact form: the name, email address, phone number (optional) and message you send. It’s emailed to me and kept so I can reply. I keep messages until I delete them, and never sell or share them.
  • Spam protection: the Contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA to check that a real person is sending the form. Google receives technical details such as your IP address and browser, and may set its own cookies, for this check only; see Google’s Privacy Policy. It isn’t loaded on any other page.
  • Printable resume: when you download it, I record the date, your IP address, browser and the page you came from. This lets me see how often it’s requested and stops bots from downloading it in bulk.
  • Business-card QR codes: when someone scans one of my cards, I count which card it was and the device type (phone, tablet or computer). Nothing that identifies you.
  • Videos: videos are shown as a picture until you press play. The picture comes from YouTube’s image server, which sees your IP address. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and Google’s Privacy Policy applies.
  • Fonts: pages load some fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to download them, which shares your IP address and browser details. They don’t set cookies.
  • Server and error logs: like most websites, my hosting provider keeps standard technical logs of requests. If a page breaks, the site records the page, time, IP address and browser so I can fix it.
